0,0,0: a global snapshot of non-objective art in the digital age

commemorating the 110th anniversary of kazimir malevich’s groundbreaking 0,10 exhibition (petrograd, 1915), the 0,0,0 portfolio is a seminal contemporary project that explores the enduring legacy of geometric and non-representational art worldwide.

the title “0,0,0” references the pure state of the color black in programming code, symbolizing the core principle of maximum reduction and universal applicability—a direct conceptual bridge to malevich's revolutionary "zero form."

this limited-edition portfolio gathers 30 original works by international artists, showcasing the vibrant, transcultural evolution of constructivist principles across different generations and continents. it is a visual dialogue between the historical avant-garde and the logic of our networked, digital world.

born in 1929 in vsetín, václav cigler is a seminal figure in modern abstract sculpture and a pioneer in the artistic use of optical glass. while the historic "0,10" exhibition of 1915 sought the "zero point of painting" through pigment and canvas, cigler achieves this radical reduction through transparency and light. his works are not merely objects in a room; they are instruments of perception that use high-precision geometric volumes to order and transform the surrounding space.

his deep roots in the history of modernism are reflected in his founding of the "glass in architecture" department at the academy of fine arts in bratislava in 1965, moving the medium of glass from a decorative context into the realm of conceptual and monumental art. today, cigler’s work is represented in major international collections, including the victoria and albert museum in london, the corning museum of glass in new york, and the musée des arts décoratifs in paris.

cigler’s contribution to the 0,0,0 portfolio, a screen print titled "plan," translates the essence of his lifelong work with light onto the two-dimensional plane. the graphic reduces the artistic gesture to a single, precise circular form. this work embodies the absolute purification of the "zero point": where malevich used the black square to mark the end of representation, cigler uses the geometric line to rhythmize the infinity of space.

in the context of our 110th-anniversary reflection, cigler’s work bridges the gap between the constructivist legacy of the early 20th century and the minimalist clarity of the present. his print demonstrates that the liberation of form resulted in a timeless aesthetic that makes the invisible tangible through the perfection of reduction.
