the title “0,0,0” references the pure state of the color black in programming code, symbolizing the core principle of maximum reduction and universal applicability—a direct conceptual bridge to malevich's revolutionary "zero form."

nima nabavi. born in iran and raised in the uae, nabavi’s path to the canvas was not linear. after a 15-year career in business and an mba, he pivoted to art in 2016, driven by a sudden, intense curiosity about the work of his late grandfather, hassan shadravan—a graphic designer and geometric artist who famously saw "the whole universe in these grids“.
while yesterday’s geometry was cut from breathing fabric, nabavi’s geometry is built from ink and obsession. he describes his work as "primordial modernism"—a paradox where ancient, sacred geometries meet the binary aesthetic of the digital age.
his practice is an "algorithmic meditation." using pens, rulers, and thousands of hand-drawn lines, he constructs meshes so dense they begin to vibrate. he embraces what he calls "bad handwriting"—the microscopic human deviations in line thickness that distinguish his work from machine production, giving the rigorous grid a living, breathing texture.
for the 0,0,0 portfolio, nabavi presents a constructed void. the work featured today is not a flat black surface, but a "bruise-like" depth achieved through the layering of ink. it is a black built from time and labor. the static image creates a moiré effect that hovers between order and chaos, pulling the viewer into the same "portal" his grandfather entered half a century ago.
