0,0,0: a global snapshot of non-objective art in the digital age

commemorating the 110th anniversary of kazimir malevich’s groundbreaking 0,10 exhibition (petrograd, 1915), the 0,0,0 portfolio is a seminal contemporary project that explores the enduring legacy of geometric and non-representational art worldwide.

the title “0,0,0” references the pure state of the color black in programming code, symbolizing the core principle of maximum reduction and universal applicability—a direct conceptual bridge to malevich's revolutionary "zero form."

this limited-edition portfolio gathers 30 original works by international artists, showcasing the vibrant, transcultural evolution of constructivist principles across different generations and continents. it is a visual dialogue between the historical avant-garde and the logic of our networked, digital world.

born in seoul in 1987 and currently based in berlin, jeewi lee’s practice operates as a form of "archaeology of the present." a graduate of the udk berlin and hunter college new york, her work investigates the concept of the "trace"—the physical memory left behind by materials, time, and actions. whether analyzing the microscopic history of sand grains or preserving the wear on antique korean floor papers ("hanji-jangpan"), lee seeks to visualize the "embodied memories" of the overlooked. her philosophy is rooted in the idea that "in a trace, absence and presence exist simultaneously," creating a moment where the past and present intersect.

jeewi lee’s contribution to the 0,0,0 portfolio stands in poetic contrast to the hard-edged geometry surrounding it. her work presents a flawless, ethereal gradient—a seamless transition from the pure white of the paper into the absolute depth of black (0,0,0). it is a visual "fading," a capture of light dissolving into darkness. by renouncing the distinct line in favor of a continuous flow, she visualizes the very process of reaching the "zero point," turning the binary concept of black into a temporal experience.

in the context of the 110th anniversary of "0,10," lee reinterprets the "zero form" not as a static void, but as a passage. her piece challenges the suddenness of the digital switch by revealing the infinite nuance that exists before the final blackout. it is a meditation on entropy and stillness, proving that even in the approach to nothingness, there is a profound weight of presence.
