0,0,0: a global snapshot of non-objective art in the digital age

commemorating the 110th anniversary of kazimir malevich’s groundbreaking 0,10 exhibition (petrograd, 1915), the 0,0,0 portfolio is a seminal contemporary project that explores the enduring legacy of geometric and non-representational art worldwide.

the title “0,0,0” references the pure state of the color black in programming code, symbolizing the core principle of maximum reduction and universal applicability—a direct conceptual bridge to malevich's revolutionary "zero form."

this limited-edition portfolio gathers 30 original works by international artists, showcasing the vibrant, transcultural evolution of constructivist principles across different generations and continents. it is a visual dialogue between the historical avant-garde and the logic of our networked, digital world.

born in 1965 in caracas and now based in paris, crespin carries forward the rich legacy of latin american kinetic art. while the "0,10" exhibition of 1915 introduced the "zero point" through the absolute stillness of the black square, crespin reimagines this point through movement. his work sits at the intersection of mathematics, engineering, and poetry, consisting of complex choreographies where geometric elements—lines, circles, or squares—are suspended in space and moved by computerized motors.

crespin’s international standing is marked by a historic milestone: in 2020, he became one of the very few living artists to have a permanent installation at the musée du louvre in paris. his monumental work "l'onde du midi" resides there, showcasing his mastery of "electro-kinetics." his art is part of renowned collections worldwide, including the museum of fine arts, houston and the museo nacioal de bellas artes in buenos aires.

crespin’s contribution to the 0,0,0 portfolio captures the "re-negotiation of abstraction" by introducing the dimension of time. if the 1915 avant-garde sought to liberate the form from the object, crespin liberates the form from its fixed position. his work in the portfolio reflects the three zeros through a radical reduction to the essential: the movement of a simple geometric plane in space, governed by invisible mathematical laws.

in our 110-year reflection on the "0,10" legacy, crespin represents the evolution from tatlin’s static counter-reliefs to a contemporary "constructivism in motion." he proves that the pursuit of pure artistic sensation is not bound to the canvas, but can be found in the fluid, fluctuating grace of geometry as it breathes and shifts in the 21st century.
