0,0,0: a global snapshot of non-objective art in the digital age

commemorating the 110th anniversary of kazimir malevich’s groundbreaking 0,10 exhibition (petrograd, 1915), the 0,0,0 portfolio is a seminal contemporary project that explores the enduring legacy of geometric and non-representational art worldwide.

the title “0,0,0” references the pure state of the color black in programming code, symbolizing the core principle of maximum reduction and universal applicability—a direct conceptual bridge to malevich's revolutionary "zero form."

this limited-edition portfolio gathers 30 original works by international artists, showcasing the vibrant, transcultural evolution of non-objective art between the historical avant-garde and the logic of our networked, digital world.

bahk seon ghi (b. 1966, south korea) lives and works near seoul and is internationally acclaimed for breathtaking installations and sculptures that challenge our perception of space, gravity, and materiality. trained at chung-ang university in seoul and later in milan, he uses charcoal—a material that represents the final, burnt state of wood—to create delicate, suspended structures that appear like three-dimensional drawings in mid-air, assembling thousands of fragments on near-invisible nylon threads into tables, staircases, columns and other everyday forms.

his significance in the global art scene is marked by a unique bridge between eastern philosophy and western minimalism. bahk's work has been featured in major institutions and galleries worldwide, including the national museum of modern and contemporary art (mmca) in seoul, and his large-scale, site-specific installations are held in prestigious public and private collections, notably the leeum, samsung museum of art.

bahk seon ghi's contribution to the 0,0,0 portfolio is a masterclass in the "reduction to form." by utilizing charcoal—a substance that is essentially "carbon" or the "zero point" of organic matter—he explores the relationship between nature and culture. his work plays with the illusion of solid form and the reality of empty space, echoing the suprematist idea of "pure artistic sensation" through the most fundamental means. in his hands, the black of the charcoal becomes a physical manifestation of malevich's black square, expanded into the third dimension.
